Tips to Consider When Buying a Phone Charger

Promotional phone chargers, power banks and wireless chargers are the ideal way for you to keep your brand in front of employees and clients. They are perfect for today’s busy and tech-driven world, as they provide on-the-go power for devices and gadgets.

There are hundreds of styles of phone chargers, including power banks, wireless chargers, charging mousepads, car chargers and hybrids. Here are a few ideas to consider when selecting the right custom-printed power bank for your next marketing campaign:

1) Budget: You can get a phone charger for anywhere from $12-$65, depending on its capacity, amperage, wattage, quality, charging ability, number of ports and other factors. The typical smartphone has a need for 2500-2800 mAh for a full charge. If you get a power bank with a 10,000 mAh capacity, it will fully charge that phone three times before needing to be recharged again.

2) Capacity: The capacity of a power bank battery is the amount of electric charge it can deliver at the rated voltage. Capacity for power banks is measured in mAh (milliampere hour). The higher the mAh, the greater the capacity.

3) Power Bank, Wireless Charger or Hybrid?
Power Banks: For most phones, a standard power bank will do the trick. Power banks can be thrown in a backpack, bags and purses and, when charged, can provide immediate power without any other source of power. These are ideal for travel and for on-the go activities.

Wireless Chargers: Wireless chargers are great for charging during the day or at night. Just place the phone on top of the charge pad, and it is good to go. However, these still need to be plugged in to a wall or laptop to give it power, so they are not the right choice if you need to charge on-the-go.

Hybrid Chargers:  There is now a hybrid between a wireless charger and a power bank with dual-use phone chargers. These can be used as a standard power bank by attaching a charging cable to its port for immediate use while traveling, and these also feature a wireless option, so you can charge it wirelessly when that is more convenient.

4) Your Imprint: Choosing the best phone charger for your next promotion is also dependent on your logo and/or design. Some power banks can be laser etched/engraved or debossed, which are ideal for one-color logos. Silk screening is best for one or two spot colors (where the colors in the imprint do not overlap). Full-color digital imprint is also an option and depends on the material that is being imprinted. Be sure to discuss with us if you have any questions.

5) Distribution: Due to the lithium-ion batteries in most power banks, airlines may treat them as a special class of handling. This means that power banks should not be shipped by air, as this will entail additional costs. All phone chargers can be shipped by standard ground service.

6) Cost per Impression (CPM): Keep in mind that a phone charger that is used four to five times per day will get your company name and logo seen by each recipient between 1,460 and 1,825 times per year. Now think about that and the cost per impression; if you are spending $35 on a custom-branded power bank or wireless phone charger, your cost per impression is less than two cents. If this charger is used for two years, then your CPM drops to under a penny per impression. Compare that to other forms of advertising, and you will see why branded promo products are so successful and popular.
